Joey Price

Joey Price is so excited to return to San Diego Junior Theatre as Artistic Director, where he spent a lot of time as a kid. At the age of 17, he was given the opportunity to direct Company with Confetti at SDJT, and thus began his pursuit of a career in the performing arts. In the intervening years, Joey has worked as an actor, director, comedian and podcaster in New York City and San Francisco. He was a longtime performer and improv teacher at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre and he worked as a teaching artist and director in public schools and summer camps with the San Francisco Arts Education Project. As a freelance director, notable credits include Urinetown, The Wild Party, Reefer Madness: The Musical, Deep Space Live and his original Emo! The Musical. His work as a playwright has been produced at San Francisco Sketchfest, UCB and The Pit. Joey holds a bachelor’s degree from San Francisco State University and is currently working to complete his master’s in Educational Theatre. He’s thrilled to be back at the place where his imagination and creativity could thrive, and working with the next generation to help ensure they have the same opportunity. Joey will be directing The Sound of Music, the first show of JT’s 76th season.
